About Suzu SakaiSuzu Sakai is a now Tokyo based freelance theater/ spacial designer. Working and having experience in Set, Light, and Costume design in NYC, she has a passion for all aspects of artistic and production design. Recent productions include: Bakersfield Mist (Set Design; New Century Theater), Metamorphoses by Mary Zimmerman (Set & Lighting Design; Smith College), Alexander's Feast by Handel (Lighting Design; Harvard Early Music Society), and The Imperial Express (Assistant Set & Costume Design; Beijing Millennium Monument), including festival shows at the Fresh Fruits Festival and the Thespis Theater Festival. After interning for Broadway designer Anna Louizos and assisting set designer Lauren Helpern, she is currently back in Japan, now producing shows through PARCO. Suzu holds a B.A. in Theatre Design from Smith College, MA.
Born in Tokyo, growing up in California, Chiang Mai, Hiroshima, and Massachusetts, she is also passionate about cultural issues around the globe, and wishes to bridge the world through theater and art. |
